Memorial Service Report 3 February 2016
We now have a complete page about the recent memorial service and reception, designed to record the event as completely as possible. Sincere thanks to Old Boy Mark Draper who has kindly written the report which forms the centrepiece of the page.
Sadly and perhaps surprisingly in these days of digital cameras and mobile phones, no photographs have been forthcoming and no-one has reported seeing any taken. Should anyone have any photographs taken on the day which they feel they could submit for the site, they can still be accommodated.

The Old Boys Talk could prove useful in allowing Old Boys to discuss any arrangements with each other.
Headmaster Ian Philips passes away, aged 95
31 October 2015 (updated 2 Nov 2015)
With sadness we record the passing of headmaster Ian Philips.
His family has asked for this announcement of his death to be placed on this site :
PHILIPS Peacefully at The Crescent House Rest Home on Tuesday, 27th October, 2015, Stanley Ian, aged 95 years. A much loved husband to the late Hilda and father of Peter and Christopher. Ian will be sadly missed by all his family and friends and fondly remembered by former pupils of Eaglehurst College, Northampton, where he was headmaster. A memorial service will be held in mid-January 2016, date to be advised. |
He was tremendously popular with the boys at Eaglehurst and many have stayed in touch and visited him throughout the years. They will be deeply saddened by this loss. Old Boys may wish to comment or discuss via the Old Boys Talk facility. Ian donated his body to science, as did his wife Hilda before him, so there will be no funeral. The date of the memorial service will be published here as soon as it is known.
School Photographs
13 August 2015
Two school photographs are now available for download ( right hand side of this page ).
The 1920 School Photograph, taken at the bottom of the playground, has been scanned by Matty Allison, grandson of Old Boy Charles Allison who is seventh from the left in the back row ( the fifth of the tall boys ). Matty would be pleased if any Old Boys who remember his grandfather were to get in touch with him ( emails via the webmaster will be forwarded ).
The 1963 School Photograph, taken on The Racecourse, has been scanned by Old Boy Chris Perkins who is in the picture himself ( boy number 23 ).
We have a project on hand : to give a correct christian and surname to all the boys in the photographs and, in the case of the 1920 Photograph, name the teachers too. Chris Perkins has named an amazingly high number of boys in the 1963 photo; some of them, he is sure of and some need verifying or he only remembers one of the names. With the 1920 photo, it will be a tougher project but, hopefully, not impossible. Those names which are definite are printed in black. In some cases, it may be enough simply to know who a boy is if the precise name can then be found in one of the Old Boys Association magazines.
Old Boys are invited to discuss who they think anyone is via the Old Boys Talk and/or email the webmaster with any relevant information. If you are in the 1963 photograph yourself, please let us know.
Old Boys Talk Is Now Live 1 February 2014
As promised, the Old Boys Talk facility is online and live from today. It is hoped that it will perform a worthwhile function in bringing the school back to life. Old Boys Talk is part of the website, the rest of which will be completed in the near future.
Users of the Talkbook may wish to read the foreword to the Talkbook first in order to get the most out of it. It could also save problems and should only take a moment to read.
Eaglehurst College Old Boys Talk
18 January 2014
The Eaglehurst College Old Boys Talk Book has been selected, uploaded, installed and configured. It is intended as part of the coming website but, as it functions independently, it will be made available for use and accessible from this page from Saturday 1 February 2014. The Talk Book will allow for a perpetual conversation between users of this site, most but not all of whom are likely to be Old Boys, and will be explained in detail on that date.
The rest of the website is well advanced, many of its pages being finished. We also have two very nice pictures of the last Headmaster, Ian Philips. This one was taken outside of the school in 1972 and this one was taken on 28 September 2013 specially for this site.
Keep watching the Eaglehurst College website for further updates and if you know anyone who may be interested in these developments perhaps you would like to let them know.
Progress of this website 1 October 2013
For various reasons, the project to result an Eaglehurst College website had stalled but the work has now begun again and it is hoped that the site will be ready to go live before the end of this year. In any event, updates will appear here so, if you're interested, keep a watch on this page.
If anyone has anything that may benefit the site, please make contact. Of particular value at this time would be photographs of the final Head, Ian Philips and the first one, Herr Julius Reinick.
